#17 the days needed in life

sometimes we need a specific focus to refresh our minds,

Hello my lovelies,

I wrote the quote in plain English. So what do I mean? Well simply put, we can only do so much in a day and it can leave us feeling overwhelmed. I speak from my own experience, trying to manage so much on all different aspects of life can be truly demanding. During therapy I developed days to help me cope, I then adapted them to hours when needed, let’s dive straight in.

BODs, basic only days

It says what it means on the tin. It is a day to focus only on needs, I mean food, hygiene, and hydration. Now, where you stay is up to you whether couch or bed bound; but you do nothing but survive, a true rest day, focusing on what you body and mind need, whether it’s a DOG, or SPA, that’s fine but nothing else. This kind of rest needs to be normalised in my opinion. It is brilliant if you realise this is the kind of day you need, because you’re self-aware and in tune with your mind and body. These days are about being free from obligations.

DOGs, day of goodness

These are much like BODs, no LADs, only goodness. It is about actively making the day meaningful and filled with joyful activities, hobbies, and intentions. I do a bath, I journal more, I meditate more, I use candles and incense, and read. Just soak up the positive energy I am creating. I do what I want that I know will spark joy, bringing a sense of relief. I find adding in basics, my meaningful activities and simply being present, doing what I want without repercussions for resting lightens my moods. By planning it in I also have something to look forward to.

SPAs, spiritual practice and alignment

These are not for everyone which I completely appreciate! I usually keep SPAs to an hour, where I meditate with/out crystals, I use even more incense, pray, and use the time to just get back in touch with my self. There can be so many ways from reading texts, praying, recitations, seeing your community (sangha for me), learning and more. If you are religious and/or spiritual, are there any practices you could do?

LADs, life admin days

These are sometimes needed, despite the dread. We can only bury our heads in the sand for so long. Sometimes we need to face sorting bills, household tasks and other errands. I always tackle with a list, I prioritise and focus (whilst also having breaks, of course!) I also see if there are easier ways of working other than phoning places and track progress. By having a day planned or scheduling part of a week I find it much less overwhelming, the sense of organisation really boosts my wellbeing and I feel on top of that pile.

Journal prompt: would any of these help you?
