Speaking lessens the burden,
Hello my lovelies,
Today’s post may seem a bit of a repeat to last week, but I find it important to hammer down the point: speaking helps. It helps those all around us. But I really just want to be a bit more creative about it… enjoy this poem…
You long to be in my head
Screaming so I remain silent.
But you never did expect me to open my mouth
And voice my truth.
You all spouted vitriol in my head
Yet I remained steadfast in honest speech
All of us humans share a suffering,
Being afraid of being vocal.
In this world, we need to be.
More than ever.
I have spoken out for so long
I don’t really remember when I started.
I held no shame in my truth,
Especially when I inspired others
To do the same.
So people too could feel what I feel.
Freedom.
Energy rising.
Passion growing.
Connection fostering.
A flourishing of the heart.
Widening the horizon.
Honesty.
Understanding.
Compassion.
We do not speak without fear,
For judgement may reign,
But I do anyway,
To show recognition,
To show I understand,
To say “you are never alone”.
When I speak, others may too,
Leaving behind the cracked shell
And coming alive,
Knowing what they want to do.
We are not tamed birds in a cage,
We are not wild “beasts”
We. Are. Human.
We have a right to our voice as much as anyone else
We sing as the morning chorus
We act with the confidence of a lioness
We shape ourselves in how we truly want to be.
I speak,
So others may too
Because there is a long way to go
The tracks are just being built
Never fear, we will make it.
I speak,
Because I know it is the right I have
I am not afraid to be honest
Speaking is the most revealing
And intimate act
Opening up our whole world
The true world of our mind
Our essence
And here. it. is.
Journal prompt: Write a poem, any kind of poem like this freewriting, on how you speak.
Kindly, Leanne x
