Dearest lovelies,
Here is an essential piece I wanted to write just outlining my values, my ethics and my guidelines in which I will be writing with.
Values
Compassion and kindness – this is at the core of what I want to do. I want to not only explore, but embed the idea of compassion and kindness not just to others, but to ourselves. We deserve it. So every post will be kind and bring as much light as possible.
Perspective – this is my top character strength within Positive Psychology (more on that in a later post!) I am able to see wider pictures as well as the pieces in a jigsaw puzzle. But I know that my perspective is just one drop in an oceanic earth. So I will never pretend to be an expert, only in my own experience.
Hope – I have lost hope only for two months in my life, and they will forever cast a shadow: something I have accepted. But hope sustains us, and I want to share that hope with all of you. With that in mind, I will ensure to always remain grounded and cautiously optimistic.
Ethics and guidelines
Honesty – For all of my life, I have been someone that is trusted, and everything here will remain the same. I will have my hope, but I will be honest, I do not abide by lying, it goes against my precepts and my morals. So all of my experience is true. If I do a deep dive on a topic and mistake some of the evidence, I will retract and update for transparency
Triggers – This is a loaded word in society right now, but it exists. Triggering phrases and experiences come from a state of shock, it’s just a newer term. So whilst there may be sensitive topics, I will always state in the title “CW” (content warning) and add the topic descriptor at the top of the post, though I don’t think I will be needing it much, if at all.
Respect – This is a biggie. As mentioned in my value of perspective, what I say is how I perceive things, it doesn’t make it a universal Truth and I wholeheartedly accept that. This forum is a place of respect and mutual trust in that. I will not accept hate speech or purposely divisive topics of conversation.
Kindly, Leanne
