#54 poetry

Hello my lovelies,

I have a question: have you ever written to a business or organisation to compliment them? I have done it a couple of times now and my most recent one was to The Poetry Pharmacy and it has now inspired me to write a small series on my favourite poems. Below is a summary of my love for poetry I wrote in said email:

I loved reading and learning rhymes as a young child and as I grew, I came to adore poetry, particularly the Brontës. My English GCSE speaking assessment was about a hero of ours and I chose Emily. Around this point of GCSEs, I became very unwell, all I felt like I could do was use my imagination as a solace, so I began my journey into writing at 15 years old (now 30). All this to say, I firmly support your vision of combining poetry and wellbeing. I have felt the impact of how powerful, and wonderful, words can be.

Essentially, I have spent decades in love with not only prose, but verse and poetry as a whole. I may not be the best writer but I love it as an outlet. The Poetry Pharmacy is all about wellbeing and poetry combined, hence “Pharmacy”. As you already know, I am also into wellbeing. So the thought came to me, why not share poems that have helped me? I love the idea of spreading a little joy.

So for a few posts I will be posting a loved poem, why it helps and hopefully it inspires you.

Kindly, Leanne x
